A Bed Project
The
current condition of patient-care beds at Kona Community Hospital is
that most are worn-out, delapidated and in dire need of being replaced.
Through extensive research for a modest yet modern and updated bed to
provide the best quality of care for all patients, hospital management
has selected the Advanta 2 Bed by Hill-Rom as the best option to fulfill
these requirements.
The
new patient-care beds will greatly improve the medical staff's efficiency
and ability to deliver exceptional health care to our growing community
by having beds with features designed for patient care, safety and ease
of use as well as one that is economical.

Chapel
Project
The
construction of a multi-faith chapel for patients, families and staff
at Kona Community Hospital had long been the dream and passion of devoted
Kona Hospital Foundation supporter, Mrs. Barbara S. "Stevie"
Wilcox. Mrs. Wilcox passed away February 25, 2011. She was the wife
of one of the foundations founders, Allen C. Wilcox, Jr. and the mother
of Anne Irene Wilcox, a foundation board member for many years. The
Wilcox family has requested in celebration of their mother's life, contributions
may be made to the Kona Hospital Foundation and will be used to honor
Mrs. Wilcox's dream of construction of a chapel at the hospital.

Adopt a Room Project
The
Kona Hospital Foundation’s fundraising focus is on our
Adopt-a-Room project, a special renovation of each of our 37 patient
care rooms. We feel that a beautiful, peaceful, and technologically
advanced environment encourages each of our patient’s healing and that
begins in the room. The renovation includes upgrades such as state-
of- the- art headwalls which provide the medical staff with a better
ability for proximity of suction, oxygen and power outlets and as a
bed bumper. A 3-position recliner will be added for visitors, new countertops,
mirrors, window shades and televisions as well as upgraded plumbing
and flooring. The per-room renovation estimated cost is $25,000.00.
For any individual, group or organization that would like to sponsor
a room it can be spread over a 3 year period. Any other donations will
be applied to the overall project. Room sponsors will be recognized
by handsome wall plaques.
